Visa Appointment System Improved

Published November 10, 2021 11:57 AM IST

It is currently mandatory to schedule an appointment if you wish to obtain or renew a visa in Jerusalem. The only exception to this is renewals for families of four or more. They must drop off their passports and necessary documentation without an appointment, and are called to pick up their visas after approximately two weeks.

Chaim V’Chessed has had extensive contact with Misrad HaPnim officials in an effort to improve and streamline the appointment process.  On November 4, Mrs. Rachel Morgenstern, head of our Governmental Advocacy Department, was invited to Misrad HaPnim’s Shlomtzion Branch for an extensive parley on issues relevant to our constituency. Also participating were Mrs. Gitty Garfinkel and Mrs. Hadas Teller of Chaim V’Chessed. The Chaim V’Chessed delegation was hosted by senior officials of both Misrad HaPnim Jerusalem branches. We are pleased to share that officials are making a genuine effort to improve the services offered.

The appointment system is now as follows: Send an email to ashrot-jerusalem@piba.gov.il to request a visa appointment. Include the names and passport numbers of all applicants. Supply a phone number and specify if you need an adult or child renewal, first time visa for adult or child, the amount of visas necessary, etc.

A Misrad HaPnim representative should call you within three business days to schedule your appointment. Make sure that your phone is available at all times, and answer any private or unknown calls. Unfortunately, representatives generally do not call more than once. If you missed a call, resubmit your inquiry – as your case has likely been closed.

If you do not receive any response within three business days, simply resubmit the email a second time.

If, after another two days, you have still not heard back from Misrad HaPnim, Chaim V’Chessed will attempt to intervene on your behalf. Forward the email thread containing both emails you sent to Misrad HaPnim to urgentpnim@chaimvchessed.com

In general, be aware that Misrad HaPnim staff is happy to assist you. For best results, make sure to bring along ALL required documents. Visas will NOT be issued to those missing important documents. Remember to have patience and calmness when dealing with the staff.

Hi (NAME)  How you doing? I’m helping out with a campaign for an organization here in Israel that really means a lot to me, I’ve actually been helped personally by this organization – when (INSERT PERSONAL STORY?!) which is why I agreed to help them raise funds so they continue their important work. The organization is called Chaim V’Chessed. Maybe you’ve heard of them. They help English-speakers in Israel, whether tourists or residents, to navigate all kinds of challenges and crises. They help with travel, medical, educational and bureaucratic crises. They are literally lifesavers. You can imagine how busy they have been since the war broke out, and how many crises they have been helping with. Here’s a short video to give you an idea of what they’ve been doing. If you are able to support them, it would mean so much to me!! I know there really are a lot of great causes out there, but if you can help me out with this cause, I’d really appreciate. Here’s the link to my page. Thank you, thank you!!!
