Relatives May Enter Israel to Visit Lone Soldiers

As published earlier this week, the Interior Ministry has issued new regulations regarding foreigners who may be eligible to enter Israel at this time.

An important addition to this list are family members of lone soldiers. Lone soldiers are singles who immigrate to Israel alone, without family, and serve in the Israeli Defense Forces. Many of these dedicated soldiers have been unable to see their families for many months, due to the the ban on foreigners entering the country.

The new regulations (see here) state that spouses, parents or siblings may apply for permission to enter Israel, to visit their relative serving in the IDF.

Please note: All travelers to Israel need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. Furthermore, even in the permitted circumstances, one must still obtain permission to enter by emailing the nearest Israeli embassy or consulate. See here for a list of all Israeli outposts.

Applications must include:

  • Copies of passport(s)
  • Travel itinerary (showing travel for more than 14 days – as the traveler will need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival).
  • ID of the lone soldier
  • Proof of relation to the lone soldier (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etec)
  • Medical Insurance which will cover duration of stay in Israel, which must explicitly state that Covid is covered
  • These forms filled out
