Quarantine MAY be Cancelled for Travelers from Some Countries

On Wednesday, July 29, Health Ministry Deputy Director General Itamar Grotto told a Knesset panel that entry to Israel without quarantine, from some counties, may be soon be permitted.

Grotto averred that the Ministry hopes to allow entry without quarantine to travelers arriving from so-called Green Countries, possibly as soon as mid-August. Green countries refer to countries with low rates of Coronavirus infections. The list may include Austria, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Lichtenstein, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

It should be noted that the United States is not on the list being discussed. Furthermore, it is unknown if the pass from quarantine might apply to US passengers travelling via Green countries.

Lastly, bear in mind that, at this point, these are simply the hopes of government officials. No official target date has been announced for any loosening of the rules. Surely, conditions on the ground in Israel, and in each specific country, will factor into any final decision.
