For several years, it has been possible to apply for an Jerusalem arnona discount on the website of the Jerusalem municipality. However, foreigners were not afforded this privilege. Foreign citizens were required to journey to the municipality to appear in person.
Now, a considerable breakthrough has been achieved. Chaim V’Chessed contacted Councilman Dovid Blumenstock (Degel HaTorah), and complained that, especially during the Corona pandemic, it is unreasonable to force foreign citizens to appear in person. Blumenstock appealed directly to Mayor Moshe Leon, who ordered the arnona department to accept online applications from foreign residents of Jerusalem.
You can learn more about arnona discounts here. Note: This benefit is currently in effect for the duration of the Corona era. We continue to work with Jerusalem officials to make this arrangement permanent.
See the arnona discount application form – now featuring an option for passport holders.
