Most airlines have suspended flights to and from Israel. While officially this is only for 48 hours, it is impossible to know when regular flights will resume. Chaim V’Chessed has been inundated with calls from tourists who came to Israel for Sukkos and now find themselves stranded, as their flights have been canceled.
Passengers may try to book reservations to European destinations on El Al or on other airlines which are still flying, and make their way home from there. Numerous travelers have succeeded in this fashion, traveling through destinations such as Frankfurt, London and Istanbul.
Our colleagues at Amudim are coordinating potential charter flights to allow Americans located in Israel to return home. As of now, a charter flight to New York is tentatively being arranged for Thursday, October 12, though this is subject to change. Other flights are being considered, as well. Separately, US Embassy officials have requested that ALL American citizens in Israel complete a special United States Department of State form. By doing so, you will be able to access resources provided by the US Government if and when they become available.
