Entry Update from England, S. Africa & Denmark
Since Sunday, entry to Israel has been barred for travelers from England, S.
Africa & Denmark even if they live in Israel and held entry permits. Chaim
V’Chessed dealt with numerous such persons who actually arrived in Israel and were forcibly sent back to England.
For the past 48 hours, we have been advocating forcefully that student visa
holder whose center of life is in Israel must be allowed into Israel. We have heard from countless people stranded in England, separated, often from their spouses, children or homes in Israel.
We are now pleased to report that families holding student visas whose center of life is in Israel may now re-enter Israel. Additionally, they can be issued entry permits. This is effective immediately. To the best of our understanding, at this point, singles with student visas are NOT being permitted, at this time.
HOWEVER, AS OF THIS WRITING, SOME AIRLINES OERATING FLIGHTS OUT OF THE AFFECTED COUNTRIES HAVE NOT BEEN UPDATED TO THIS CHANGE. Hence, foreign residents of Israel who – according to this news, should be permitted to fly to Israel – are still being prevented from boarding flights in English airports (and presumably S. Africa and Denmark, though we are not familiar).
Chaim V’Chessed representatives are in contact with various government officials to try to rectify this situation. We will post updates as they occur.
BEAR IN MIND THAT PASSENGERS WHO DO REACH ISRAEL, WILL BE REQUIRED TO QUARANTINE IN GOVERNMENT HOTELS UPON ARRIVAL.
