Entry to be Allowed for Stymied Married Students

As reported earlier, permission will be granted to foreign students to enter Israel, despite the general ban on entry of foreigners. The understanding at the time of publication was that only single students would be granted entry under this scheme.

Earlier this year, Chaim V’Chessed achieved a breakthrough, when Interior Minister Aryeh Deri first announced a process for allowing student visa holders to enter Israel. The permission was later retracted from unmarried students, and single students have been banned, until today’s dramatic announcement.

Numerous married students have been barred from entering the country for various reasons. This group includes newlyweds and others who, for some reason, do not hold valid visas.

Chaim V’Chessed proceeded to advocate for these students to be allowed to enter Israel, as well. We are pleased to announce that married students have now been included in the arrangement.

It should be emphasized that the details of this plan have not been finalized. Hence, we caution against purchasing airline tickets, or making other plans, until the terms become clear. Chaim V’Chessed will issue updates as information becomes available.

Furthermore, not all institutions will qualify to participate in this incipient program. Please contact your individual yeshiva or seminary for further details.
