At the onset of the Coronavirus crisis, Chaim V’Chessed reached out to officials at Bituach Leumi to explain that for foreigners in Israel without valid visas, Bituach Leumi and other health benefits would be terminated. And, with government offices mostly shuttered, visas would not be obtainable. Once they understood the gravity of the situation, at our request, Bituach Leumi issued a directive that no foreign citizens will be ejected from Bituach Leumi over the coming months.
Individuals who have recently been removed from Bituach Leumi due to visa issues, and are now unable to renew their visas, still stand to be removed. Such parties should contact our office immediately, and we will attempt to have their status reinstated.
Lastly, foreigners with Bituach Leumi who give birth during this period will have no way to register their children with Bituach Leumi, as they will be unable to obtain birth certificates, passports and visas. These families, too, should be in immediate contact with our office.
