Below please find three options for internet service in Israel.
WiFi and Router
Step 1. Internet Infrastructure (Tashtit)
To begin the process, one must obtain internet infrastructure (tashtit). This refers to a phone line that brings internet capability to one’s house. The service can be provided either by Bezeq or by HOT cable.
Being that HOT is essentially a cable television company, they do not offer their services in many chareidi neighborhoods.
The company will charge a flat monthly fee for the infrastructure. If one wishes to use the infrastructure for calls as well, they will need to also purchase a phone plan.
Step 2. Obtain a Modem/Router
The company that provides the internet infrastructure will also supply a modem/router. Generally, the company maintains ownership of this device and it needs to be returned when the line is canceled.
With some plans, use of the router is included for free, while others charge a monthly rental fee.
Additionally, Bezeq offers an option to buy a router; however the rental is often a better device with additional features.
The company will provide instructions for programming the device.
Often the router will need to be picked up from a Bezeq or HOT location. If someone other than the person listed as the official line holder picks it up, the messenger will need a letter from the line holder with his ID number authorizing him to do so.
Step 3. Internet Service
When signing up for internet structure, the company may offer a plan that includes internet service as well. Otherwise, one will need to sign up for a plan with a phone company. Companies that provide internet service in Israel include: Partner, Cellcom, and Bezeq.
