Last Sunday, Chaim V’Chessed hosted a landmark meeting for the benefit of Israel’s English speaking community. Mr. Meir Spiegler, the national director of Bituach Leumi (National Insurance) visited the Chaim V’Chessed offices for wide-ranging meetings. Mr. Spiegler was previously familiar with Chaim V’Chessed’s work. However, at this meeting, Spiegler spent extensive time with various department heads of Chaim V’Chessed, exploring and better understanding the needs of the English-speaking community. Mr. Spiegler was escorted on the visit by MK Rabbi Yitzchak Pindrus, a staunch friend of Chaim V’Chessed and the entire English-speaking community.
The event was chaired by Paysach Freedman, CEO of Chaim V’Chessed, who welcomed Mr Spiegler and gave a brief overview of the organization’s activities. Mrs. Rachel Morgenstern, coordinator of Chaim V’Chessed’s Governmental Relations Department, presented many of the organization’s accomplishments. Mrs. Morgenstern also raised a host of issues which members of our communities experience difficulties with. With remarkable, rapid-fire responses, Mr. Spiegler suggested solutions and pledged ways to greatly improve many of these issues.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Yossi Ifergan, Director of Residency for Bituach Leumi. Mr. Ifergan works extensively together with Chaim V’Chessed, particularly in arranging health care coverage for foreign citizen newborns during the Covid era. Mrs. Shani Wahrsager of Chaim V’Chessed’s Medical Department hailed Mr. Ifergan’s work on behalf of the community. Mrs. Wahrsager also proposed further ways of cooperation between the organization and Bituach Leumi.
Mr. Spiegler was honored by affixing a mezuza to the Chaim V’Chessed conference room. The event concluded with presentations of awards to Mr. Spiegler, Rabbi Pindrus and Mr. Ifergan. Chaim V’Chessed thanks Rabbi Pindrus for coordinating this extraordinary meeting. Various solutions proposed at the meeting have already been implemented, and we look forward to continued cooperation between Chaim V’Chessed and Bituach Leumi, for the benefit of the community.
