Presentation: Supporting Our Children in Israel During These Difficult Times

Published October 8, 2023 10:07 PM IST

Operation Iron Swords, Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza has concluded its second day. English speakers in Israel may find themselves even more confused and bewildered than other residents of Israel. Chaim V’Chessed is assisting the English speaking community of Israel in a bevy of ways during these trying times. Additionally, those abroad with loved ones in Israel are especially shaken at this time.

In light of the ongoing hostilities, Chaim V’Chessed is pleased to present two special video presentations for English speakers.

Divrei chizuk from Rabbi Yitzchak Berkovits, Rosh Yeshiva of Aish HaTorah and a leading Rav in the English speaking community of Jerusalem. Rabbi Berkovits examines the Torah perspective on today’s events and offers words of encouragement for all.

Countless families around the world have family members, often students, who are currently located in Israel.
Avi Tenenbaum
, MA CASAP is an expert in Disaster Behavioral Health and Psychological First Aid. In this special session, Avi addresses the concerns that those abroad likely have regarding their loved ones in Israel.

Avi discusses how to validate the fears that you may experience regarding your family members, while simultaneously supporting them, from abroad. He touches on the sensitive need to show your loved ones how much you care without overly amplifying fears. Lastly, he addresses how to assess which support your child needs.
