Iran Conflict: Government Services Extensions and Updates

As the Israel-Iran conflict continues to impact daily life across the country, Chaim V’Chessed brings you several key updates have been announced regarding government services and procedures. 

Interior Ministry Grants Visa Extension

In an important step to ease bureaucratic burdens during this time, the Ministry of Interior has declared an automatic visa extension. Any visa that was valid as of June 12, 2025, will now remain valid until September 30, 2025, without the need for immediate renewal or additional filings.

Bituach Leumi 

Foreign residents of Israel are eligible for Bituach Leumi coverage in Israel – but only if they hold valid visas. Chaim V’Chessed has contacted Bituach Leumi officials, who have agreed to extend national insurance coverage for foreigners whose visas have expired, in light of the ongoing situation.

Car Registration Period Extended

The Ministry of Transportation has announced that vehicle registrations expiring between June 13 and July 13, 2025, will be automatically extended by 60 days.

U.S. Embassy Services Appointments Cancelled

U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has informed Chaim V’Chessed that it has cancelled all previously scheduled appointments for for the remainder of this week. Applicants will be rescheduled for later dates. Embassy staff are working to contact those with affected appointments. While the Embassy is completely closed today, it may open later in the week for emergency services.

Despite widespread closures, Chaim V’Chessed offices remain open to assist the public with urgent government, medical, and travel matters. The organization continues to coordinate closely with Israeli ministries and foreign embassies to provide up-to-date information and individualized support.
