Israel-Iran Conflict: Continued Disruptions to Government Services, Transportation & Travel

Published June 15, 2025 12:48 AM IST

As tensions continue in the wake of Israel’s military action against Iran, widespread disruptions across the country persist. While Chaim V’Chessed is not a news outlet, the organization continues to provide critical updates on how the conflict is affecting schools, government services, transportation, and travel.

Here is the latest information:

  • Government Services: Most government offices are expected to remain closed in the coming days. Services such as Interior Ministry branches, Bituach Leumi, and Misrad HaKlita are not operating regularly and may be inaccessible altogether in some areas.
    • Individuals facing urgent government-related issues are encouraged to contact Chaim V’Chessed for assistance.
  • Public Transportation: Transportation remains severely curtailed. Only a limited number of bus lines are currently operating, primarily serving hospitals and other essential locations. The light rail systems in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are not operating until further notice.
  • School Closures: The Ministry of Education has ordered all schools closed for the coming days. Most schools nationwide are expected to comply with this directive.
  • Air Travel Halted: Israeli airspace remains closed. There are no flights entering or leaving the country. Sources tell Chaim V’Chessed that this closure is likely to remain in effect for at least several more days.
  • Travel Options Extremely Limited: Chaim V’Chessed has been contacted by numerous individuals with urgent need to either enter or exit Israel. Unfortunately, at this time, there are almost no viable options for leaving Israel. Travel to Cyprus by ship is being explored as a possible emergency solution. No confirmed options are available yet.
  • Chaim V’Chessed Remains Open: Despite the national shutdown, Chaim V’Chessed offices remain open to serve the public during this critical time. Special arrangements have been made to enable staff to continue operations despite the challenging circumstances.

This is a rapidly evolving situation. Chaim V’Chessed will continue to provide timely updates on schools, travel, and government services as the situation develops.
