BREAKING NEWS!
For nearly a year, Chaim V’Chessed has been grappling with an extremely problematic rule of the Israeli Interior Ministry that caused much difficulty for foreigners living in Israel. The ministry refused to list the father’s name on the birth certificates of children born in Israel to foreign citizens. This rule caused untold headaches to parents by preventing numerous children from receiving citizenship via their fathers. Canadian members of our community were particularly affected.
Chaim V’Chessed addressed this concern in meetings with ministry officials, lawyers and with other interventions. After much effort, we are pleased to announce that as of Sunday, July 24, the Interior Ministry has modified their rules, and they will now list the father’s name on birth certificates!
May we continue to see positive results in all our endeavors on behalf of the English-speaking community in Eretz Yisrael.
